Our Story
A family thread, woven through California.
HAONGAN LTD began with one question from a boutique owner — “where do I find home goods that feel like England, without the shipping nightmare?” — and grew into a wholesale house with a warehouse of its own.
Alan Hao grew up surrounded by textiles. His grandmother ran a fabric stall in a Guangdong market town, selling bolts of cotton to seamstresses who knew her by name. He learned to judge cloth the way other kids learned to ride a bike — by touch. By the time he was twelve, he could tell you, blindfolded, whether a weave would hold its color after ten washes.
The trunk of a car
When Alan relocated to Southern California, he didn’t set out to build a company. He set out to answer a question he kept hearing from shop owners across Los Angeles and the Inland Empire: where can a small retailer find English-country home goods without waiting months on overseas freight — and without the prices that come with big-brand distribution?
His first showroom was the trunk of his car. He would fill it with bedding sets and towels, drive from shop to shop, and unroll duvets across café tables to show buyers what “English country” could feel like at wholesale prices. Buyers who had never stocked textiles started placing orders.
The first container
The first full container was a leap of faith. Alan borrowed dock space from a friend in Fontana, packed it by hand with his brother and two college friends on a ninety-degree August weekend, and drove the paperwork to the customs broker himself. He wanted to understand every line of it — the classification, the country of origin, the duties — because he believed a supplier who doesn’t know its own paperwork is a supplier who lets its customers down at the border.
That first order arrived intact, on time, and labeled correctly. The shop owners noticed. Word traveled.
Dock 1-2, Almeria Avenue
Today HAONGAN LTD runs from Dock 1-2 at 8300 Almeria Avenue in Fontana — California’s logistics heartland, minutes from the rail yards and the 10/15 corridor that move goods across the country. The company is still family-run and still hands-on. Alan still opens every container himself, and he still keeps a roll of his grandmother’s favorite ticking stripe on the office wall, as a reminder of where honest cloth comes from.
“We’re not the biggest supplier on the dock. We’re the one that answers the phone, ships what we promise, and labels every piece the way we’d want it labeled if it were going to our own shelves.” Alan Hao, Founder
What we stand for
Three values, no fine print.
Craft
Designs rooted in the English country tradition — botanical prints, ticking stripes, calm muted palettes — made from dependable materials that wash well and sell well.
Compliance
Every product we ship is labeled and documented to meet US federal and California requirements — from FTC fiber-content and care labels to country-of-origin and Prop 65 screening.
Partnership
Minimums that respect small retailers, pricing that leaves margin on both sides, and a team that answers the phone — because a wholesale relationship should feel like one.
